The systems have been beneficially applied in more than 200 different industries, increasing production by eliminating difficulties arising from temperature and moisture conditions. He was author of various scientific publications and received many medals and honorary degrees for his engineering achievements. He was a member of scores of engineering societies and country clubs. In religion he was a presbyterian and in politics a republican. His favorite recreations included hunting, fishing and golf.
